AI Teaching and Learning Fellow with the Center for Teaching and Learning
Bret is a Senior Instructor and AI Coordinator at the Oregon State University College of Business, where he leads initiatives to thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence into education while preserving critical thinking and human values. His teaching focuses on entrepreneurship education, while his broader engagement centers on teaching and learning across all educational levels, including K-12 education.
In addition to teaching entrepreneurship courses, Bret facilitates workshops and provides mentoring to students and community entrepreneurs. He brings extensive business experience and technology expertise to help educators and learners navigate the intersection of innovation, ethics, and practical application in an AI-augmented world.
Through his blog, Humanovate, Bret examines how we can balance our rapidly advancing technological capabilities with human values—asking the kinds of questions that keep him up at night and, hopefully, help others sleep better. His writing explores critical AI literacy, digital innovation, and the art of measuring progress in terms of both efficiency and kindness.
Bret continues to research and develop frameworks that ensure AI enhances rather than diminishes human potential across all levels of education, from K-12 classrooms to university business programs.
Financial support for this fellowship was provided by the OSU Libraries' Gray Family Fund.
