Kelly is an outreach librarian and Associate Professor at OSU Libraries. She holds an MLIS and a Master of Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia. She has been a member of the Library Freedom Project since 2018, where she collaborates with other library workers on trainings, projects, and publications related to digital privacy, security, and information democracy.
At OSU, she helps organize Data Privacy Week events, as well as regular workshops and outreach activities related to privacy and security issues. For 2024-28, she is an OSU Libraries & Press McEdward Scholar for this work. In addition to privacy, her research and teaching includes zines, critical pedagogies, and issues of organized labor in libraries. Most recently, she co-authored Organize Your Library! Developing the Collective Power of Library Workers, available through ALA Editions.
