Laurie is a humanities librarian and Director of the AI Literacy Center at Oregon State University. Her teaching and research focus on advancing critical AI literacy: supporting learners in thoughtfully engaging with generative AI while examining its broader social, economic, and political impacts. She has taught an OSU Honors College colloquium, Generative AI and Society, which explored the societal context of emerging Generative AI technologies.
Laurie has over 20 years of experience at OSU Libraries. She earned a BSEd from the University of Nebraska, an MS from Oregon State University, and an MLIS from the University of Washington. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Science and Communication at the Universitat de Barcelona, where her research focuses on critical AI literacy education.
